Shane pulled into the yard at Willow Creek Stables. She had saved up a lot of money to get another horse. She hadn't ridden since she was thrown into a fence five years ago. She really want to start riding again, but she's still scared. She thought that if she bought a horse, took care of it, then she'll muster up the courage to ride again.
Shane jumped out of the truck, she borrowed it from her foster parents, and walked around to the side of the trailor and peeked into the slits. The horse was stomping, he wanted out. She had called earlier to make sure the owner would be here, but she said she could go ahead and get her horse settled, she told her where his stall was, and where to put his feed.
Diego jumped out of the truck window and joined her.
Diego, stay here She told him, and she walked to the back of the trailor. She unlatched the lamp and let it down. It was a two horse trailor so she entered on the side where he wasn't out. She backed him out with her leading him in the front. When all of his hoofs touched the ground and lefted his head, sniffed, and winnied. Shane laughed. She loved the sound of horses.
She led the horse to the stable and walked down the aisle. Diego followed right beside the horse. He didn't care. All the horse's had their head out of their stalls, admiring the new horse. She went half way down the barn aisle and finally found his stall. She slid it open and led the horse into it. He already had some hay, water, and feed. The feed was the stable's feed. But she had bought her own. Her horse started to much on the hay already. Diego was still walking down the aisle sniffing all the horses.
She stood there and admired her black tobiano paint gelding. She loved paints.
She walked out of the stall and slid the door closed. She smiled at his name plate. He was named after her old horse. She whispered Torque. She smiled and walked out to get the feed, Diego following right behind her.

I noticed the truck and trailer. I noticed Shane as she brought out a beautiful paint gelding. My Dodge Ram 3500 was parked on the other side of hers. Cowboy started prancing and pulling on the riens as i tried to control him. Cowboy then stopped and stood for a second as i mounted off my Dun Quarter Horse stud. Hey Shane! Nice horse! I did not want to yell yo loud and spooke Cowboy. But i knew he was calm around loud sounds. I led Cowboy to the trailer and tied him to the side. I stood by his side to wait for Shane to come over.

She heard someone yell her name. She looked around as she approached the truck and noticed that it was Sorya. She waved and yelled Thanks. You got a nice horse too. She wasn't too fond of quarter horses, but that horse had a nice color. She went into the trailor and started pulling out feed bags. Yeah, the stable had good feed, but, she wanted to be in control of everything that happened with Torque. Thats why she'll be here every single day. At every feed. Turning him out, grooming him, batheing him, everything that had to do with him. She doesn't have any tack yet though. She has a halter and lead rope, but thats about it. But as for a saddle, bridle, and everything else, she'll buy those when she decides to ride.
Diego followed right behind her and she carried the feed bags to the feed room and stuck them in the corner. She had three bags alltogether. She also bought a metal trashcan to put the feed in, which she carried into the feed room last. It was hot, so she decided to come back before the next feed and put the feed in the bin. She went out of the feed room and saw Sarya standing beside the horse she was riding. It was all western. She was more of a english girl, but she's ridden western before.
Hey Sorya, just come back from riding? She rubbed the horse's forehead.

Yeah, i have to exercise my firesian mare that is in one of the pastures next. Many people do not understand that i use western tack on all my horses. I looked at her horse. He was pretty. I noticed that she did not have any tack in the trailer. I looked at her. You know, i could lend you some tack until you buy some. I have a bunch in my trailer. Bridles and all. I had an english saddle that i never used. Maybe i could give that to her. I really do not ride english at all. I put it in the trailer just in case someone needed it. I walked to the back of the trailer and grabbed the saddle, pad, and bridle that i had in there.

Um, thanks. But i won't be riding for awhile. She smiled at her. She would LOVE to ride, but, she was still scared. The horse she fell off of five years ago got hurt real bad and had to be put down. Shane was in a coma at the time, so she didn't know until a week after he was put down. That scares her more tan anything, she couldn't handle losing another horse. She's lost so much already. She wasn't even thinking about buying a horse until her foster parents suggested it to her. Well, told her told. She had plenty of money in her bank account. Some was collected illegally (selling herself, drugs, and other favors). She's had rich boyfriends who gave her money. And she got a check every monthfrom her father for child support. Thats the only contact she had with him. So, she could buy almost any horse she wanted. She bought Torque from a local breeder for $10,000. She paid $5,000 up front. And she'll pay the other $5,000 next week if she wanted to keep him. So, she guessed she should ride before then. She hadn't ridden him when she bought him, against what the owner had told her. But, he looked good walking, she saw him galloping in the field. He wasn't lame. So, she bought him.

I looked at her. I do not mean to intturde or anything. But what is going on? You seem to be different around horses. I looked at her hoping i did not sound like a hag or something like that. I looked at Cowboy who was trying to get to Shane for a treat. I smiled and patted his neck and gave him a treat. I waited for her reply. I walked to the back of the trailer and got Midnight. My beautiful friesian mare. I patted her and let her put her muzzle on my shoulder.

Shane rubbed the sides of his face and kissed his nose. She half smiled and sat on the back of the trailor. Five years ago I was jumping for my trainer in a competition in New York. I was riding my own horse, Torque. Not the one I have now. We were going for a jump, but something spooked Torque and he reared to a stop in front of the fence. She thought of the jump as if she was jumping it now. She shook her head and continued. I didn't want to be disqualified, so I made him go over. He was still spooked and I didn't give him enough room to go over the jump and he fell right on top on the poles, throwing me onto the standard on my back. I had a herniated disk and I had to have spine surgery. I was in a coma for two and a half weeks, and during that time, Torque had to be put down. He had broken two of his legs. He was getting better, but he wasn't the same. The vets told me that he wouldn't even try to walk. So, he legs got bad again. If he didn't walk on them, he wouldn't be able to heal. So, my foster parents mades the desicion to put him down. She was devastated when she found out when she woke up. The first thing she said was 'How is Torque?' Her foster mother at the time told her and Shane couldn't even look at her. She probably would have done the same thing if she was awake but it still hurt. Thats when she got Diego. As if she said his name, Diego came up to her and licked her hand.

I looked at her. How would you feel if i helped you get over the fear of riding? I mean, i can start you on Midnight, She is a really nice horse. She would not even hurt a fly. She is really sweet. I hope that she would accept it. Midnight could have a toddler on her back and not even spook. I patted Midnight as she reached for Shane. I smiled. See, Midnight is trying to make friends. She likes you Shane. I smiled again. Would Shane want me to help her? I was not sure. But i would find out when she gave me her answer.

Shane thought about what Sorya said. She knew she couldn't get over her fear by herself. But, she wanted to ride Torque to get over her fear. Thanks, um, I know I probably won't be able to do it myself. But, I think it would be best for me to do it on Torque. Midnight is adorable, and she's nice. She scratched her behind her ears. But, I think it would be easier to do it on Torque. Yeah, i've never ridden him before, but I trust him. I don't know why, but I do.

Alright, i have a deal. I will ride wtih you on Midnight, and you will ride Torque. I just want to make sure that everything is going to be okay. I looked at her. I knew that Midnight would be the best canidate to help with Torque and maybe calming him down a bit. If it is okay, we can meet tomorrow and i can let you use my saddle and we can try it out. I mean, it is not going to hurt to try. I looked at her. Maybe i could have Shane and Torque come out to the ranch and ride out in the arena outside. I looked at her again. I then patted Cowboy who was trying to get a treat out of my pocket of my jeans.
